Dining: Spiral Diner
Whole Lotta Vegan Going On.

VIBE: Urban café with tin ceiling meets vegan eatery in the hospital district. This scene is part natureland and part psychedelic. “Our goal is to provide the community with tasty vegan food at a reasonable cost,” proclaims the menu. Even for those who normally eat meat, the cooking here is a revelation in creativity, resourcefulness and old-fashioned superb taste. Spiral Diner uses absolutely no animal products. How do they do it? With organic ingredients and love.

WHY IT'S TOT-FRIENDLY: Besides the health benefits of vegan dining, consider the video games in the foyer -- some of the last in town that actually take a single quarter instead of 50 cents

The Spiral Diner

1314 W. Magnolia Avenue, Fort Worth, 817/332-8834
Tues-Sat 11am-10pm, Sun 11am-5pm
.

BE SURE TO TRY: Order a delicious smoothie made of almond or soy milk, and be sure to check out the real maple syrup on the Spiral’s own all-you-can eat vegan pancakes, both plain and pineapple.

GOOD TO KNOW: Spiral Diner was chosen as one of the top 14 vegetarian restaurants in North American by VegNews magazine. Hot chocolate with soy milk is hard to tell from the kind kids get in the school lunchroom. Children’s plates are available, including a baby plate with finger foods like peas and mashed potatoes.

BEST TIME TO GO WITH KIDS: Stop by between 1-4pm Tuesday through Friday, when it’s fairly quiet.
